Buguda, August 28 (Purn chandra Barik):A deplorable picture of the education system has come to light in a remote area. While students attend school to learn, a teacher comfortably sleeping inside the classroom has now become a hot topic of discussion. Such a scene was witnessed at the Kiriyamba Government Primary School under Karachuli Panchayat of Buguda Block in Ganjam district.According to reports, Padmalabha Patra, an assistant teacher at the school, not only fails to arrive on time but also sleeps instead of teaching and behaves rudely with the students. When the Headmaster raised objections, the assistant teacher’s brother, Prahallad Patra—who is a teacher at Nuapalli School—frequently visited the school to pick fights. Despite written complaints submitted to the Buguda Block Education Officer (BEO), no action has been taken. Occurrence of such incidents during school hours has triggered intense dissatisfaction among parents and local residents.While the government launches various schemes to enhance the quality of education, the careless attitude of certain teachers threatens to plunge the students’ futures into darkness. The spectacle of a teacher sleeping instead of teaching has also raised serious questions about the functioning of the Education Department.Parents express that due to such negligence, students are being deprived of proper learning opportunities. The public strongly demands an impartial probe into the matter and strict action against the guilty.
